Ritual Home (ABN 62 921 032 128) is an Australian-based and registered business that operates this store and website, ritualhome.com.au, including all related information, content, features, tools, products and services (together, the Services), in order to provide you with a curated shopping experience. These Services are provided and managed through the e-commerce platform Shopify.

This Privacy Policy (Privacy Policy) describes how we collect, use, and disclose your personal information when you visit, use, or make a purchase or other transaction using the Services or otherwise communicate with us. Please read it carefully. By viewing and using any of the Services, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy and understand and agree to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information as described in this Privacy Policy.

We may collect or process the following categories of personal information, including inferences drawn from this personal information, depending on how you interact with the Services, where you live, and as permitted or required by applicable law:

To provide you with the Services, including to process your purchases, returns or exchanges, arrange shipping, remember your account preferences and items in which you are interested, send you notifications and recommendations for related products, and enable you to post reviews.

For marketing and promotional purposes, such as to send marketing, advertising or promotional communications by email, text or postal mail, and to show you online advertisements for products or services on the Services or other websites, including based on items you previously have purchased or added to your cart.

To authenticate your account, provide a secure payment and shopping experience, detect, investigate or take action regarding possible fraudulent, illegal, unsafe, or malicious activity, protect public safety, and to secure our Services. If you choose to register an account with us, you are responsible for keeping your account credentials safe. We highly recommend that you do not share your username, password or other access details with anyone else.
  • Communicating with you. To provide you with customer support, be responsive, and ensure that the Services we provide you are effective.
  • Legal Reasons. To comply with applicable law and legal authorities, including requests from law enforcement or government agencies, to investigate or participate in civil discovery, potential or actual litigation, or other adversarial legal proceedings, and to enforce or investigate potential violations of Ritual Home’s terms or policies.

  • With Shopify, vendors and other third parties who perform services on our behalf (e.g. IT management, payment processing, data analytics, customer support, cloud storage, fulfilment and shipping).
  • With business and marketing partners to provide marketing services and advertise to you, including Klaviyo for direct marketing, and Shopify, which supports personalised advertising with third-party services based on your online activity with different merchants and websites.
  • When you direct, request us or otherwise consent to our disclosure of certain information to third parties, such as to ship you products or through your use of social media widgets or login integrations.
  • With our affiliates or otherwise within our corporate group.
  • In connection with a business transaction such as a merger or bankruptcy, to comply with any applicable legal obligations (including to respond to subpoenas, search warrants and similar requests), to enforce any applicable terms of service or policies, and to protect or defend the Services, our rights, and the rights of our users or others.


Transfer of personal information overseas

Third-party service providers who we work with and provide personal information, such as Shopify and Klaviyo, may be based in, or have servers located outside of Australia, including in Canada and the United States. Our business and marketing partners will use your personal information in accordance with their own privacy policies (see further on Shopify’s policies under “Relationship with Shopify” below), Ritual Home will otherwise take all reasonable care to ensure that data security and appropriate privacy practices are maintained.


How is your personal information protected?

Ritual Home will take reasonable care to ensure that any personal information we hold about you is kept confidential and secure, including by:

  • limiting the storage of all personal information to one secure server;
  • not allowing any other party, other than authorised service providers, with access to personal information; and
  • having technological measures in place.

Please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and we cannot guarantee "perfect security." In addition, any information you send to us may not be secure while in transit. We recommend that you do not use unsecure channels to communicate sensitive or confidential information to us.


Direct marketing

You may be sent direct marketing communications and information by Ritual Home or our business or marketing partners about products, promotions, or events that may be of interest to you if you have requested or consented to receive such communications. These communications may be sent in various forms, including email and SMS, and shall only be done in accordance with applicable marketing laws, including the Australian Spam Act 2003 (Cth). If you indicate a preference for a method of communication, Ritual Home will endeavour to use that method whenever practical to do so. Relationship with Shopify

Information you submit when engaging with our Services will be transmitted to and shared with Shopify in order to provide and improve the Services. As part of this process Shopify may make use of personal information collected about your interactions with the Ritual Home store and website, other merchants, and with Shopify itself. In these circumstances Shopify is responsible for the processing of your personal information, including responding to any requests you may have to exercise your rights over use of your personal information. Third party websites and links

Our Services may provide links to websites or other online platforms operated by third parties. If you follow links to sites not owned or controlled by Ritual Home your personal information may be collected by those third parties, and Ritual Home encourages you to review their privacy and security policies and other terms and conditions. Ritual Home makes no representations or warranties in relation to the privacy or security of any third-party site. The inclusion of third-party links does not, by itself, imply any endorsement by Ritual Home of the content on such platforms or of their owners or operators.


Retention of personal information

Personal information will be retained for no longer than is reasonably or legally required. This depends on different factors, such as whether we need the information to maintain your account, provide you with Services, comply with applicable laws (such as record-keeping obligations), resolve disputes or enforce other applicable contracts or policies.
